An icon nearly a decade in the making, the Nike Air VaporMax sneaker ditches unnecessary layers and puts you even closer to the famed Air Max technology. Looking to build upon the successes of their initial launch, Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit, Nike is doubling down with the release with the new Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit 3. Boasting a lightweight construction thanks to the Nike Flyknit stretch woven material and VaporMax Air technology, your every step is built to feel like a breath of fresh air. Sleeker than ever before, the Nike VaporMax running shoe is available in Men's VaporMax, Women's VaporMax, and kids' sizing.
Air VaporMax Technology
When Nike released Air Max cushioning way back in the late ‘70s, jaws dropped, tongues wagged, and the footwear game was forever changed. Over the decades, new innovations in design shook things up, but nothing could prepare the industry for the revolutionary drop of the Air VaporMax technology. For seven years, Nike designers worked on the design. These leaders wanted to elevate the concept of running on air, offering a bouncy feel that evoked a feeling of weightlessness. Instead of previous Max Air units that were filled with as much air as possible, the idea was to use less air and strategically place it for maximum energy return. As they studied pressure maps of the foot, they were able to determine the ideal placement for the air units, creating a tread pattern beneath them that mimicked small pistons. With each step-down, the lugs on the sole are pushed into the air sole unit, which builds pressure. As the foot steps-off, the release of pressure offers a springy feel for a boost of energy. The result: An intelligently-designed Nike Running Shoe that offers the best of both worlds: Cushioning and a lightweight feel. Combined with Nike’s foot-hugging Flyknit upper technology, these sneakers took running performance to impossible new heights.
Nike VaporMax Running Shoes
Released in May of 2017, Nike VaporMax Shoes sent shockwaves through the sneaker community. While it’s crafted for running, it looks just as good on the streets, thanks to bold colorways and a futuristic design. Training aficionados and sneakerheads alike can enjoy this futuristic sneaker that feels, well, lighter than air. New iterations have since been released, like the Nike Air Vapormax 2019 or the Nike VaporMax Plus (which is a direct nod to the Air Max Plus of 1998), as Nike continues to level up this bold model.
